the tier system is a little bit of a mystery but I think you generally move up and down tiers depending on win / loss ratio and kill / death ratio.

the tier you are playing on also plays an important factor. play at more challenging and perform well consistently and you will most likely move up

In all fairness, it's a decent game. But it won't last as long as q3a has, because it's severely flawed in the fact that there is nearly no user content. q3a would be dead without mods, it wouldn't even have become a good, long lasting game without mods.

It's the same process. It can be modded almost exactly the same way as q3. It's just a matter of some engine changes and pk3 encoding.

q3a has no match making and noobs are still downloading cpma and getting their asses raped without whining every day =p and it doesn't NEED mods to survive either, osp was the most popular mod and esentially all it was was vanilla quake 3 with the extra bits people wanted that ID failed to put in. clearly on ql though ID is making sure to put these things in for example: cpma hit sounds, ya it's very small but it clearly shows they're putting in aspects of other mods to effectively make a perfect mod =p all mods would do is split up ql's community which is small enough as it is (especialy america) and ya as ex said it's just beta anyway I'm prety sure in q3as beta (if there was one) there wasn't cpma movement
